Conveniently located at 258 Charman Road Cheltenham, Great Shape Bayside services clients living or working in the Bayside area (including Cheltenham, Black Rock, Beaumaris and Mentone).

Our Studio comprises a well equipped personal training area for 1 on 1 or 2 on 1 sessions and a group training room which is used for a wide range of closely supervised small group personal training sessions suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Our training facilities are clean well maintained, we have the highest quality fitness equipment, plenty of space and air-conditioning to make your training environment comfortable all year around. Our members and trainers are friendly & welcoming and our boutique environment provides a unique personalised training experience that you will not get in a large commercial gym.

Our consultation room provides a private area for initial and ongoing assessments (including body composition analysis, weight and blood pressure monitoring and nutrition coaching).

Free parking is available directly outside the studio and its close proximity to the Cheltenham train station means that clients can train at the facility before and after work and make use of the bathroom and shower facilities.

    Upon joining Great Shape Bayside, you will be required to undertake an initial Health Consultation to assess your current health and fitness levels and to discuss your training objectives and goals. A realistic and tailored program will then be set for you to maximise your success. Your initial consultation will include:

    Class Descriptions


    Boxing for fitness is based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit.  The class combines high intensity cardio, boxing exercises & drills and bodyweight exercises, which will help you burn fat and increase cardiovascular fitness.

    Boxing for fitness is also very effective at increasing muscle tone & endurance and a great way to relieve stress. It is a fun, challenging and safe workout and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. No previous boxing experience needed.


    This class is ideal for those looking to improve their cardio fitness and endurance, using a combination of high intensity exercises including interval running, rowing machines, spin bikes and more.  You will leave feeling energised.


    A total body workout utilising lighter weights and higher repetitions to increase muscular endurance and body tone, combined with cardio and plyometric exercises to get your heart rate soaring.


    HIIT has proven to be one of the most efficient ways to burn calories.  This type of workout alternates between intense bursts of activity and periods of less intense activity or even complete rest.

    This type of workout includes a variety of resistance, cardio & core exercises in order to improve your fitness while getting stronger and leaner.


    This class provides exactly what the title suggests - working on improving your flexibility and mobility (muscle and joint range of motion). It is suitable for all ages, but especially those looking to improve in these important areas and complements the other timetabled group PT sessions perfectly.


    A circuit class is an excellent way to burn fat, get fit and feel great.  It involves high-intensity cardio and resistance training exercises for improved cardiovascular conditioning and strength.

    With a variety of exercise stations using different drills, movements and a wide variety of equipment, you perform each exercise for a designated time or number of repetitions before moving to the next station or activity. The format varies constantly to keep you challenged and motivated.


    Our Pilates classes are structured in order to improve flexibility, core and glute strength, body balance and mind-body awareness.

    Mat Pilates is the most popular type of Pilates, where much time is spent on the floor using gravity and your own body weight to create resistance. This is a geat variation to our small group sessions and will challenge you in ways you may not have thought possible.


    This is a challenging lower body conditioning class that focuses on working the body from the waist down, together with abdominal and core strengthening & stabilising exercises.  It focuses on toning and strengthening the glutes, hips, thighs and abs in an energising workout.


    The class caters for all levels and is designed to increase the strength of the entire body, increase muscle mass, increase fitness and conditioning levels, improve posture and functional strength and change body composition.


    During Open Gym time (currently on Saturday morning), all studio members are welcome to use our Group PT facilities to do their own workouts, or obtain guidance from a supervising trainer.  In addition, you may like to use this time to do remedial exercises, self myofascial release (foam rolling), stretching or to focus on any weaknesses you may have.
